Queen of the Happenstance Realm

Happenstance, it is all just happenstance isn't it? This blog is used to share my thoughts about whatever silly or serious somethin' or other that's on mind- I use to update it everyday until... until... Feel free to leave comments, I love sharing ideas and IF you comment, I might start posting again. Represented are some aspects of who I am. All this together is a small piece of my life.

Greetings

LATE LATE LATE
Most of my Holiday Greetings were received via mail early this week. This was NOT my intention. I had the letter drafted in November but didn’t get around to printing it out/addressing the envelopes during the Christmas Season. I wasn’t too concerned, it is so much easier for me to do that stuff between Christmas and New Years when I’m off of work and I knew instead of putting a Christmas tone to it I could alter it for New Years.

BEST INTENTIONS
I got sick between Christmas and New Years so things were delayed.

$ PRINTING PROBLEMS $
I didn’t make enough copies of our letter (yeah we do the form letter thing). A sheet printed in color was $.89 so I only made some (not many) colored copies and the rest black and white. This killed me because the pictures I inserted were not that great in black and white but oh well. After that fiasco, I decided to spice it up and send a family picture/card.

COUNTING…
Why didn't I order enough? Well, I did what any practical organized thrifty person would do and counted the number of people I would be sending to in advance. Last year I updated my planner with everyone’s address so this year I was good to go. BUT I WAS WRONG. My address listing was incomplete, I didn’t have enough. I was frantically trying to adjust to whom I should send what to and it was VERY time consuming. Then addressing them all… it took the better part of an entire day and then some of the next. Many people were left off all together and I feel awful because some are very good friends (just not friends I have addresses for in my address book).

GOING OUT
When I was going to send them out I realized the post office was closed. Then the store I was going to buy stamps from was out. When I went back the next day they informed me that they were waiting for the new stamps. New Stamps? Yeah, the price is going up- WHAT!?!?! I finally purchased my stamps and sent them out but they went out LATE. The title sort-of gave me an out though… With all the Hustle and Bustle of the Holiday Season, we opted this year to send out a New Year Greeting BUT the picture/card thing said Happy Holidays. DANG.

AGSDGHSDFJSDFHLHDGkldj!?!?!?!

Next year I’m preparing 125 letters formatted for black and white copies and that will be that, I’m sure we’ll do a picture too and I’ll order plenty so there’s no stress.

After all that rambling… a friend mentioned cutting some people from the list. I’ve considered it. Still I would want to send to those who send to me and I like sharing with people I care about even if they aren’t into the card/letter thing…. Nah, I won’t cut the list unless the person/family has completely stopped being apart of our life. What about you? Do you send to lots of people? If so, have you considered condensing? Do you opt not to send out cards/letters, if so do you resent getting cards/letters from others?

I enjoy the process of touching base with everyone, just wished I would have handled it ahead of time instead of having to play catch-up and suffer the obstacles.

Thanks Mare!

Handmade cards- that is AWESOME. Addresses are the one thing I don't have in a spreadsheet- mainly because I don't have a printer. One day...
