Queen of the Happenstance Realm

Happenstance, it is all just happenstance isn't it? This blog is used to share my thoughts about whatever silly or serious somethin' or other that's on mind- I use to update it everyday until... until... Feel free to leave comments, I love sharing ideas and IF you comment, I might start posting again. Represented are some aspects of who I am. All this together is a small piece of my life.

Coaching

What have I done? Did I really think I am up to this? Just kidding BUT coaching 3 year olds is really going to be a challenge. We had our first meeting/mini-practice yesterday and well it opened my eyes. First of all, I taught dance before so I thought this would be easy. But dance is one thing and soccer is another. In dance the kids are in a confined space INDOORS. There are no distractions, nothing for them to do but listen to you. That and there are no parents around, kids tend to behave better when their parents aren’t around (mine included). Now we’re outdoors and I’m totally outnumbered.

There’s this one Mom that seems really great I’m afraid she would likely be a lot better suited for this- she’s coached lil’ ones before AND she has actually played soccer (8 years). I hope she’s not regretting being on my team.

I hope I get less nervous, I was totally scatterbrained. I rehearsed everything in my head and I think I just got too excited about it, my expectations were really high. Oh well, I’ve got a lot of energy and this is for my kiddo (I hope he remembers and appreciates this one day).

I know if I just do my best, things will fall into place but this may be one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever undertaken. I totally underestimated the commitment.

So now for the good, the parents seem nice (2 Mommies I already know and love) and the kids are adorable. I can’t wait to see them in their lil’ uniforms running down the field/playing with the ants. Everyone seems pretty easy going so I know I can relax (in fact I think I should). We’ll focus on drills and I’ll get people involved and all will be well. I’ve got a strategy so hopefully we’ll get into a rhythm.

We're the Team Titans! I thought that was a cute one (I like you'alls name too- The Mustangs).

The person that is so experienced would be a great coach but I'd settle for assistant. The problem is she has a 2 year old so... But she's really nice.

No worries though- one of my friends, Amber, said she'd assist so I'm super excited about that AND Robin said she'd help out too.

All in all, I know it will go well but it is a little daunting. Once we can box them in, we'll be fine and all the kids seem really great.

I thought about going to the material store and buying a few yards of a solid color to lie on the ground and have the kids sit on. That way during practice at various times I could say- okay, everyone back to the red space (or something like that). Plus I could use the material as a boundary? We'll see.

Well if a teacher had problems...
that makes me feel better because she's trained to handle that stuff but it makes me a little nervous because I want the kiddos to get as much as possible out of it.

We'll see and we'll just try to focus on having fun. I'll get everyone involved and it will be fine.
